Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

BrandNav is operated by Third Coast Data LLC (“we”, “us”, “our”). We build tools that help businesses understand and improve how they appear in AI-generated responses. Questions about this policy: hello@brandnav.ai.

2. Information We Collect

Account information: Name, email address, organization name, and password (hashed — we never store plaintext passwords). If you sign in via Google, we receive your name and email from Google.

Brand data you provide: Brand names, aliases, website URLs, competitor names, queries you track, and ICP details you enter voluntarily.

Query results: AI response text, citation data, mention rates, and sentiment scores generated when your tracked queries are run across AI platforms.

Usage data: Pages visited, features used, and timestamps of activity within the Service, collected to improve the product.

Site crawl data: If you trigger a site crawl, we fetch and store metadata from your brand's public website pages (titles, content type, word count, internal links). We do not store full page HTML.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and operate the Service (run queries, generate recommendations, display results)
  • To send product updates, alerts you configure, and transactional emails
  • To improve and debug the Service
  • To process payments and manage subscriptions
  • To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your data. We do not use your brand data to train AI models or share it with competitors.

4. Third-Party Services

To provide the Service, your query prompts are sent to third-party AI APIs. These APIs process queries but do not receive your account details:

We also use Google Cloud Platform for hosting and data storage, Stripe for payment processing, and Google OAuth for authentication.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Google Cloud SQL (us-east1 region). We use industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to production data is restricted to authorized team members only.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is removed within 30 days. Query run results older than 12 months may be automatically purged to manage storage costs — we will notify you before this policy is enforced.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Export your brand data and query results
  • Object to certain processing activities

8. Cookies

We use session cookies for authentication. These are required to log in — disabling them in your browser will prevent sign-in.

We also use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site (for example, which pages they view and how they arrive). Google Analytics sets first- and third-party cookies and may collect your IP address, device, and browsing activity on our site. This data helps us improve the Service; we do not use it for advertising and do not sell it. Google processes this data on our behalf — see Google's Privacy Policy for details. You can opt out across all sites using Google's browser add-on, or block analytics cookies in your browser.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. We will notify registered users by email before material changes take effect. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent version.
